![]() ![]() John was an active member of his community and served as a voluntary member of the Bethany Fire Department for 20 years. Together, they moved "down the ocean" and opened their own salon, Hair Snippery, nearly 40 years ago. In 1980, John married his true love, Terry, a fellow hair stylist and mother to a young Cory. He had an affinity for Doo Wop music and had the honor of hosting" The Bogie and Scordo" 50's Radio Show on Sundays. After his service, he attended The Baltimore Beauty and Barber School and began his life long career as an award-winning Barber and Hair Stylist. He served his country in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed on the USS Independence. ![]() John grew up in downtown Baltimore, MD as the youngest of 5 children. John is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Terry Scordo, son Michael, grandchildren Tai and Sienna and daughter-in-law Stephanie, his sister, Rosalie, and brothers, Jerry and Donald, as well as his beloved cat, "Church", his "good buddies" and extended family. ![]() He was also predeceased by his sister Margaret and his son Cory. John was born on Februin Baltimore, MD to the late John and Margaret Scordo. But in the end, of course it was the cut that really would matter, and whether or not she could give me a cut that I could “live with.On October 16, 2020, John Anthony Scordo, 77, of Bethany Beach, DE, died peacefully at home after a brief non-Covid related illness, surrounded by family and loved ones. However, I was instantly reassured when I met Gina, and before I even sat in her chair, she spent quite a while conducting a “hair consultation, listening to me and then asking me what I considered to be “all the right questions”. Considering how long it took for my hair to get this long, naturally I was a bit nervous about trying a new stylist, even though she came highly recommended. They recommended that I go to Gina, and told me she is “a master at layering hair!” I have long hair, and it had been quite a while since my last hair cut. I am new to the area, and I mentioned to someone that I wanted to get my hair cut and layered. I generally do not write reviews however I was so thrilled with the hair cut that Gina gave me that I wanted let everyone know about “The Snippery”. Gina and her colleague (I’m sorry, I forget her name!) were so friendly and professional. Unlike other salons, she didn’t try to talk me into “thinning” my hair or cutting it really short she mentioned based on her own experience, she wouldn’t recommend thinning for my hair. The biggest reason I definitely will come back is Gina’s appreciation towards clients with long, thick hair. They also take care of the donation process to Wigs 4 Kids. Before doing anything, they made sure I was comfortable and relaxed, then we discussed how much I wanted to donate and Gina triple checked with me that the remaining length of hair was something I was happy with before taking the first snip.
